​Yu Shang (Shawn) is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of media art, digital aesthetics, and critical image studies. Her practice explores how digital technologies reshape the perception, representation, and mediation of the body in contemporary visual culture. Through installations, videos, and performative experiments, she investigates the ambiguous relationship between human and machine vision, self-image, and algorithmic systems. Her recent projects focus on digital roughness, vernacular visuality, and the aesthetics of recognition and distortion.
